What does Independent Filmmakers Society do?Through our club, members create short films with the help of others. Whether you come with a full script needing memebers for a shoot or come in with an idea, no stage is required. Our club helps all of those in the club explore thier artistic vision by helping them create thier own films, allowing members to gain valuable expeirnce in the field. When we are not making films, we are having member hang-outs, creating informational workshops, hosting panel discussions with those connected to the field, or showing our films at a festival.
-
What is the purpose of the club? The purpose of our club is to allow students at UC Santa Cruz to be able to create thier OWN individual films or collabrate with others to achieve this. We understand that making films is a daunting process and requires a good deal of connections, and so it is the purpose of our club to help you achieve this.

How can I join the club?Simply come to one of our general meetings. It is never to late to join our club, so please do not hesitate. Our meetings are at the University of California, Santa Cruz in the Porter Hitchcock Lounge across in the Porter C building. Our meeting times are every week on Sunday, at 1:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

How do I make a film through the club?In order to make a film through our club, you must first attend atleast one of our general meetings (though we encourage you to attend as many as you can) and share your film with the club officals. With this, we will create a form with your requested items needed for your film, and work with you closely to help create your film. Note: Our club cannot give out any funding for a project, though we can provide a limited amount of equipement. If you do not have your own idea, but still want to help to create a film, simply be on our mailing list as we email all members new film productions with needed roles, and fill out said form.
-
Do I need previous film experience to join the club?Nope! Whether you are an expiernced filmmaker, someone new to it, or simply have an interest in film, all are welcomed to join the club. No experience is needed to help others make thier own film either, as it is a learning space for everyone. Workshops will be hosted by the club throughout the year to help introducde the fundementals of filmmaking to the members.
